Finally We Arrive in Ketchikan!!
We had decided not to get a hotel room for a few hours and just sleep in the car. It sounded great on paper, not so good in theory. Having slept a little on the ferry derek wasn't tired and Teana was hungry. So after driving around a little but we discovered a diner that was open so we went in and had breakfast. We then drove to some of the apartments we were thinking about looking at. They looked ok. Then driving on the one road several times we stopped at airport parking lot and slept for 45 mins then I had to wait till 8 to call the one place we wanted to look at. We couldn't go look at it till 10 so with to 2 hours to wait we went to Walmart. Time came to look at the place for rent. We both liked it immediately and asked when we could move in. The guy said not till April 1st. The place we are renting is in the basement of a family who owns Seawind Aviation. He told Derek he was picky about who he rents to but he like Teana from the moment they started talking. What a nice guy. Steve (the guy we are renting from) talked to his wife and they actually let us move in that afternoon.
Derek and I were so excited to finally have a home and a place to unload our poor little car. By 5 pm the car was unpacked. They have a bed for us to borrow and we went and bought a couch that flips down into a bed. So we have a place for people to sleep when they come visit.
Another great thing about the day we arrived was NO Rain!!. It didn't start sprinkling until 10 pm.
Derek and I gassed up our car when we got on the Island and by the end of the day we had already driven 50 miles. Which doesn't seem like a lot but when you are on an island that pretty much uses 15 miles of road it's a lot.
We try not to ever go to Walmart as a rule but seeing as it is the only place to stop we went there at least 4 times in one day. Just to get things for our new place.
